Dr. Richard J. Gerth
Lightweight Structures Capabilities Team Leader
Dr. Gerth is the Team Leader for the Lightweight Structures Capabilities Team at the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in Warren, MI. TARDEC is the premier laboratory for advanced military automotive technology for all military ground vehicle systems and logistics support equipment.
Dr. Gerth also leads TARDEC’s lightweight materials activities under the Advanced Vehicle Power Technologies Alliance as well as TARDEC’s HALO initiative. Dr. Gerth also research in a variety of lightweighting technologies ranging from materials and joining to open innovation.
Dr. Gerth holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.
