EGI staff members have been busy this past year working with small companies across the region as they reestablish business momentum. The pandemic showed us the importance of our local manufacturers and innovators. The recovery is placing them and their communities at the forefront of change, driving resiliency and growth.
Our fiscal 2021 annual report shares this work, our accomplishments from the past year, and our commitment to equitable economic growth.
Highlights
- We had one of our busiest years supporting small and medium-sized manufacturers. The Great Lakes TAAC, supported by the Economic Development Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce, helped firms employing 3,500 people and comprising $670 million in sales.
- We completed a program delivering targeted cybersecurity support to defense suppliers across the region with the support of the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation in the Department of Defense.
- We built upon our cybersecurity program success by developing new educational programming to train cybersecurity professionals specifically for the manufacturing environment.
- We continue to develop courses for university students that build upon our “Reimagining Companies Through Innovation” and “Technology Commercialization” courses, which challenge student teams with real company issues.
- We continue to develop our research with new capabilities and a renewed focus on equitable economic growth. Our research has also been bolstered with new tools to analyze the impact of complex economic decisions in a community.
- We are demonstrating the impact of our Allovance planning model, which has helped facilitate strategic planning with several organizations.
