EGI has been selected by the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to document equity outcomes of its American Rescue Plan Programs. EDA is supporting 53 community and industry coalitions that were selected for funding through the Build Back Better Regional Challenge and Good Jobs Challenge. Each coalition is working in their region as they address economic challenges and build resilience in their local economies.
This broad set of coalitions and initiatives provides a unique opportunity to document and study equity outcomes across different organizations, regions, and models of programs.
“This investment by the EDA will result in actionable findings on equitable and inclusive practices specifically highlighting what moves the needle for underserved and underrepresented communities,” said Sarah Crane, Research Manager of the University of Michigan’s Economic Growth Institute. “We are honored to partner with the EDA and NGIN in this critical and timely effort.”
– Sarah Crane, PhD, Research Manager, EGI
EGI has partnered with the New Growth Innovation Network (NGIN) to lead this research program. The $557,942 grant will support EGI and NGIN over four years as they work with select members of the 53 coalitions. The team will identify best practices of equity and inclusion in programs from the Build Back Better Regional Challenge and the Good Jobs Challenge.
