Janelle joined the university in July, 2023, as a Project Manager with the Economic Growth Institute and the College of Engineering’s Electrical Vehicle Center. With over 13 years of experience in economic and workforce development, she brings a wealth of expertise to the institute.
Currently, Janelle is deeply involved in developing a workforce strategy for the EV Center, focusing on upskilling and reskilling individuals in the automotive industry. This initiative also encompasses creating experiential learning opportunities for students ranging from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. She is excited about the electric vehicle domain and the strategic role EGI and the EV Center will play in this evolution.
Prior to her current role, Janelle worked at Macomb Community College, where she was instrumental in establishing an EV safety training program. Her commitment to economic development and workforce training has been consistent throughout her career. She has played a pivotal role in creating new programs, attracting and retaining businesses in the Metro Detroit area, and managing the distribution of $50 million in grants during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Janelle has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Oakland University and a Master's in Management, Leadership, and Strategy from Michigan State University. Beyond her professional life, Janelle is busy with two children, Noelle and Gabriel, and enjoys exploring local parks with her family. She is an unwavering supporter of the Detroit Lions.
