Scott Jacobs is a Program Manager at EGI. As Director of the Great Lakes TAAC, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Center. Scott is EGI’s most senior Program Manager, with more than 20 years in his current role. He has spearheaded EGI’s longstanding and successful work for the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration.
Before becoming GLTAAC Director, Scott served as a researcher and then a Project Manager at EGI. During this time he worked with management at dozens of companies, helping firms develop and implement business recovery plans.
Scott has had a lifelong interest in manufacturing, trade, small business, and public service, all of which he has been able to pursue in his work at EGI. This included developing staff and operations to reach small manufacturers across Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. His perspective of industry and policy spans the difficult transition in manufacturing during the past two decades through the new technology innovations taking shape in industry today.
Before joining EGI in 1998, Scott worked in several applied economic research positions, focusing largely on manufacturing and healthcare issues.
Outside of work, Scott enjoys fishing, playing tennis, gardening, and spending time with his family..
He holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan with concentrations in domestic policy and quantitative methods.
