The MDRC connects your Michigan ingenuity to the DoD’s energy needs, unlocking growth and propelling your role in the national electric future.

MDRC Members

The MDRC consortium is a powerhouse of expertise fueled by a diverse and dedicated group of partners. At its core are Michigan’s small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs), whose factories hum with the capacity to forge the batteries of tomorrow. Leading research institutions bring their cutting-edge battery technologies to the table, while deeply rooted community organizations tap into local talent pools to build a skilled workforce pipeline. Seasoned industry experts and consultants provide invaluable guidance on navigating DoD contracts and scaling production. This dynamic group, united by a shared commitment to Michigan’s role in national security and clean energy leadership, forms the backbone of MDRC. Their collective expertise and dedication are electrifying the path toward a secure and sustainable future.

Serving the State of Michigan

Led by the Economic Growth Institute at the University of Michigan, consortium members are addressing critical defense needs in energy storage and battery manufacturing. The consortium will support the state’s small manufacturers and their communities, advancing manufacturing and strengthening national security.
