Emily is a scholar-practitioner whose research explores the relational dynamics of leadership. At the Economic Growth Institute, she leads research projects focused on exploring workforce and economic development, supporting implementation, stakeholder collaboration, and context-informed research design. Her work integrates qualitative methods, community engagement, and applied strategy to elevate practices that promote belonging and opportunity.
Emily’s approach is shaped by experience in intercultural, personal, and team development that has spanned roles in higher education, organizational leadership, and Peace Corps Ecuador. She brings a reflexive practice and deep commitment to work towards building a bigger “we”. Her research on dignity and leadership has been shared through presentations and initiatives that emphasize the transformative potential of relational, boundary-spanning leadership.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys being outside, playing basketball, spending time with her family, and traveling. Emily holds a B.A. in Economics from Kalamazoo College, a M.A. in College Student Development from Appalachian State University, and a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change from Antioch University.
