“The Institute team did a great job facilitating the process and I was impressed on how well they were able to keep us on task, remove our bias in the final plan and execute in a timely manor. I would definitely recommend this process to others who are struggling with strategic planning.” -Marketing Department

In a recent project with a business unit of a nationally recognized standards and testing organization, EGI staff, utilized a collaborative platform for decision-making and strategic prioritization bringing analytical rigor to a highly biased strategic planning process. Success in strategic planning and its implementation relies on the planning process’s ability to promote equity and remove bias in decision making. But without a planning process that is participatory and reliable you cannot reach successful consensus on the plan and its objectives.

The Allovance method, effectively executed by EGI’s trained staff was especially valuable to this business unit. In their past, high level directives were established at the corporate level and then transmitted to the business unit. Like most organizations, this units previous method of strategic planning was often driven by gut feelings, historical rhetoric, and the need to align with corporate objectives that may not particularly fit the structure of the business unit itself. In this particular project the business unit was responsible for over 2 million dollars in annual revenue and had a different business model and set of high value customers compared to other units of the larger company. Hence the top down strategic directives needed reframing to work and be effective within the business unit. Using an objective, reliable and repeatable process to set priorities and objectives helped this unit identify the markers for success within its group and align them with the markers for success of the larger organization. The collaborative process shed light on the needs of each role in the business unit  and united the group towards its objectives for the upcoming year. The repeatability of the process enables the unit to revisit the model when significant changes in the business or environment occur to re-prioritize and realign the group.

This is what other members of the team had to say….
